A History Of Excellence
MEMPHIS POOL is widely acknowledged as the leading swimming pool firm in the Mid-South region. Operating successfully since 1952, Memphis Pool has been under the same family ownership and management since the early 1960s.
Timeline
1952 - Memphis Pool’s beginnings, when the need for specialty supplies and chemicals for public and private pools was growing.
Mid 1960’s - Roy Reed, while teaching high school chemistry, works with the firm for two years, then acquires. Operating from home, he focuses on supplying chemicals, equipment, and repair services for pools.
1969 - John McDaniel, current CEO, is hired, beginning an association lasting to this day.
1972 – Getwell retail location is constructed. Separate service and construction/renovation departments are created.
1980’s - Memphis Pool faces a lagging economy and restructures, never losing its focus and reputation for being the finest pool company in the region.
1990’s - Roy Reed serves as President of the Mid-South chapter of the APSP, Director on the National Board of APSP, and Board of Directors for the Master Pools Guild.
1991- Memphis Pool builds state-of-the-art pool for the Vesta home.
1993 - Memphis Pool opens the Germantown retail store.
1999 - A third store is opened in Collierville to accommodate an increased demand in this growing area.
Early 2000 – Memphis Pool constructs award-winning indoor/outdoor pools for the Millington and Olive Branch YMCA’s.
Today - Within the industry, Memphis Pool is well recognized and highly regarded. All of the Reed children and many of their grandchildren have gotten their training in business as they join the family enterprise one by one. Memphis Pool looks towards a bright future. We are positioned to successfully meet the exciting challenges that lay ahead and to continue to set the standard of excellence in our industry.
